Our residents—Arielle, Lex Hearth, Sasha Gigi, Surya Sen, Nova Newland , Murg and DEiTY—alongside founder lau.ra, bring fresh energy to every event. Since launching on December 8, 2023, to celebrate lau.ra’s release on Defected Records, wonk has hosted monthly high-energy nights at The Social, with unforgettable one-offs including a beach party in Margate and a pool party in Battle. All our events remain free entry, keeping club culture accessible and supporting grassroots venues by delivering world-class music in intimate spaces.

wonk’s ethos is simple: BIG tunes in a small basement—a back-to-basics club night where minimal production meets maximum vibe. Expect wonky house, UK garage, tech house, breaks, and beyond, with a focus on elevating women, trans, and non-binary artists—while welcoming anyone with good taste and an open mind.
wonk Creator Clinic
The wonk Creator Clinic is the educational arm of wonk, popping up at select club nights and leading music conferences like BMC, ADE, and IMS. Moderated by lau.ra and Lex Hearth, it’s a space where artists can test new music, get valuable feedback, and build lasting connections. The wonk Creator Clinic has hosted essential conversations on mental health, women in music, and A&R insights featuring industry heavyweights from Ninja Tune, Defected, Good Company, and DVINE Sounds.

Founded and Led by lau.ra
wonk is the brainchild of lau.ra, a powerhouse DJ, producer, and curator with a packed 2025 release schedule across labels like Good Company, Southern Fried, Defected, HOT HAUS, Another Rhythm, Nervous, and Love Clvb. With international tour dates spanning the US and beyond, lau.ra has shared stages with Fatboy Slim, DJ EZ, Sam Divine, and Sammy Virji while delivering iconic guest mixes for Radio 1’s Essential Mix, Danny Howard, Jaguar, Sarah Story, Jeremiah Asiamah, Kiss FM, Rinse, and Insomniac.
What’s Next for wonk?
In 2025, we’re taking wonk to the next level with festival stage takeovers, a UK tour, and further international expansion. Our mission remains the same: to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and sustainable space where producers and DJs can test new music, build meaningful connections, and push dance music culture forward.
